Family - A Divine Design
Hello! I have been enjoying my classes on family and its aspects,
roles, rules, etc. I enjoy learning about the most important unit family and
topics related to it of such importance. It is for sure making me a better
person, a better family member, someone who wants to look at others'
perspectives with the knowledge of choosing to do what’s right.
Family
(Dictionary: a group of one or more
parents and their children living together as a unit.)
(Wikipedia: A family is a group
of people who, in most cases, live together. They share their money and food
and are supposed to take care of one another. Its members are either
genetically related (like brother and sister) or legally bound to each other,
for example by marriage.)
I am not
sure if I have ever looked up the meaning of family according to the
dictionary. I was thinking of what to share this week. I looked up because what
I am going to share is from my belief and something I love dearly. It is a
guide, a reminder concerning the family.
THE FAMILY
A PROCLAMATION TO THE WORLD
I
would like to invite everyone to read this whenever you can. I am here going to
share some paragraphs which describe family and its roles.
Husband
and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for
their children. “Children are a heritage of the Lord” (Psalm 127:3). Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children
in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs,
and to teach them to love and serve one another, observe the commandments of
God, and be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives—mothers
and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these
obligations.
It talks
about the responsibility of husband and wife to love each other and their
children. Now, this is not something one does not know but have you ever
thought it is a responsibility. Responsibility is not just a strong word but a
word that describes the action. This is why I mentioned that this document is a
guide to me when I take things for granted not that I love my husband and child
for granted but sometimes I don't act/talk as if loving them is my
responsibility. As parents, it guides us to be there for them as it is our duty
to teach them right from wrong, teach them to choose the right, to serve, love,
and to observe. as husband and wife-husband and wife we will be responsible for
not teaching them. It clearly tells us how important it is as parents for us to
love and care for our children and at the same time it is guiding us that we
are responsible for teaching them.
This poem by C. C. Miller
titled “The Echo” illustrates the importance and impact parents have as they
influence their children:
’Twas a sheep not a lamb
That strayed away in the parable Jesus told,
A grown-up sheep that strayed away
From the ninety and nine in the fold.
And why for the sheep should we seek
And earnestly hope and pray?
Because there is danger when sheep go wrong:
They lead the lambs astray.
Lambs will follow the sheep, you know,
Wherever the sheep may stray.
When sheep go wrong,
It won’t take long
Till the lambs are as wrong as they.
And so with the sheep we
earnestly plead
For the sake of the lambs
today,
For when the sheep are lost
What a terrible cost
The lambs will have to pay.
Isn't
it beautiful to be guided to be a better parent? I have always loved receiving
advice and counsel to be better, especially to be a better mother. Few
other lines I would love to post from the above documents are:
The family is ordained of God. Successful
marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith,
prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome
recreational activities.
By divine design, fathers are to preside over
their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the
necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily
responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred
responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as
equal partners.
I believe that Family
is ordained of God and we are not here by accident with each other as families
and loved ones. I believe that families are central to god's plan and God
should be the center of families. The next line is one of my favorites and I
promise that if we live by these principles mentioned life will be good not
easy but worth the effort. The last paragraph I have mentioned from the document is
something I would like to hear your thoughts on, and I would gladly share my
thoughts.
Look
forward to hearing from you.
